Shop Amazon.com through AmazonSmile
As we start holiday shopping, I would like to encourage you all to set Central School as your charity through Amazon Smile. It’s so easy to do and Amazon then donates a small portion of eligible purchases to Central.

The one catch is that it will only make that donation if you make your purchase through Amazon Smile, not Amazon. In addition, from my experience, you cannot access Amazon Smile through the Amazon app but can if you login through the web on your phone/tablet. You can set a Bookmark so it is easier to access! Please also consider sharing with your Friends & Family.  Click here to link directly in support of Central School, or go to smile.amazon.com and enter 32279 Central School PTA in the "pick your own charitable organization" search box.

Thank you for supporting our school!!

Library Volunteers Needed!!!

Library Volunteers needed to help with organizing/shelving books and clerical/miscellaneous tasks.  A volunteer is preferred in the afternoon for one hour but you are welcome anytime you have available (please use the comment section to specify the time of arrival).  We ask that volunteers commit to at least one hour a month.  This is a great way to get involved and allows our wonderful Librarians more time to focus on teaching.

Central's 21st Annual Fashion Show was a great success! Thank you!!
Each year the Fashion Show is a great success thanks to the amazing committee of people dedicating their time and energy for months on end.  Many thanks to our incredible Fashion Show Committee: Fashion Show Chairs, Tricia Magrann and Courtney Sherly; our Model Coordinators, Amanda Sokol and Dawn Blaston; our Decor Chair Trisha Bickhart; along with our Board Chair, Ellen Brenner. They worked tirelessly since the beginning of the summer and we cannot thank them enough for all of their efforts in making the event a success!

The night would also not be possible without those of you who attended and all of your support.
As well as the support of all of the wonderful sponsors of this event and the generous town merchants who lent fashion for the event as well as donated many products, services and experiences, to help create such incredible auction items. Lastly, thank you to our fabulous teachers, administration and staff for being a part of the evening! We could not have done it without you!

Thank you so much again for supporting this very important fundraiser for our school!

Enrichment Assemblies / Visiting Poet / Author-in-Residence
Year Round
Chair - Ellen Brenner (ecarey78@yahoo.com)
Every year, the PTA works together with Central School administrators to bring culturally, academically, and socially enriching presentations to students. The assemblies are often targeted to grade-level, and the kids always have a great time. In addition, every year the PTA brings both an author and a poet into the school to interact with the students. When the kids get the chance to meet the author of a book or poem they've read, a special connection is made. They are energized, inspired, and touched with a new appreciation for reading. Enrichment beyond the normal curriculum is something the PTA is very excited about, and we're sure that your family will love it too!

Junior Great Books is a nationally-acclaimed program for Grades 2 through 5 that encourages students to read critically and participate in facilitated discussions, activities and games to help interpret the material. JGB generally begins in January and meets on Fridays during lunch/recess for approximately 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the grade level. Each week students will read a short story and meet with a parent volunteer to discuss it and have fun. JGB depends on parent volunteers to lead or co-lead a group. The volunteers take part in a brief 30 minute training session prior to the program starting, then volunteer for 1 hour per week with a group of 4-7 students (including the parent's child). No  experience necessary... just a willingness to make it fun and inspire passion and confidence!

Art Goes to School, Haddonfield Chapter Needs You
The commitment is minimal.  We meet 4 times, once a month for 2 hours before we present age appropriate lessons in the schools in the Spring.  Each year we have an exciting portfolio of approximately 20 pieces that includes art across the millennia from various cultures.  Members research and present a piece or two to the adult members of our group.

To best accommodate members' schedules, our chapter divides into two subgroups, one meeting during the day and the other in the evening.    It's best to attend all the meetings of one group so that you hear the presentations on the entire portfolio, but if you can't make all meetings, reports of the presentations will be available for you.

If you are interested in participating, email your name and phone number to AGTS Coordinator Valerie McGuigan at vamcguigan@gmail.com or Kristin Egan at kristinegan29@gmail.com.  If you would like further information, Valerie can be reached at 856-427-2496 or Kristin at 267-671-7583.
