JGB is a national program that encourages students in 2nd through 5th grades to read, think critically and participate in small group facilitated discussions of the material, lead by a parent volunteer.   By participating in Shared Inquiry discussion, JGB students learn to read for meaning and support their own interpretation of the text.  Junior Great Books is for the student who wishes to come prepared, discuss opinions and participate in a small group setting.  Students will read, discuss and participate in fun activities that engage understanding and interpretation of the story.  Groups meet during recess/lunch.

This year Junior Great Books will meet at lunch/recess time on Fridays for 6 weeks, beginning January 10th and ending on Friday February 21st (NO MEETING ON VALENTINE'S DAY 2/14).  Each week students will read a short story and meet with a parent volunteer to discuss it and have fun.   Groups will be organized at grade level.

Books must be ordered so please no late requests to register.   The cost for the book of stories is $19.00 and the book is yours to keep.  Questions?  Contact Miriam Baskies at baskies@me.com or cell 917-833-5813.
